The Hands On Literary Festival offers imaginative presentations, provocative themes, easy-going openness, great food everywhere you turn, and a masquerade ball that’s both casual and surreal.
Lynne Barrett, author of Magpies.
Full registration for the festival comes in two prices, regular and student. Our early bird registrations are at a reduced rate and run until September 15th. Purchasing a full registration to the festival gives you access to all panels, receptions, and readings, entry to the masquerade ball on New Year’s Eve, and one masterclass of your choice.
Spaces in a masterclass are offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and once a class is full, we will work with you to offer a satisfactory alternative. When you register, let us know at firstname.lastname@example.org which class you’d like to take.
Your registration also includes breakfast snacks at the start of the day, coffee and tea throughout, and canapés and wine during the evening events and keynotes. At the masked ball, we’ll provide you with a range of small plate food, and, at midnight, a champagne toast. You also receive a program and a name badge, and the opportunity to sell your books in the book fair.
In addition, your registration allows us to continue to run the festival and so makes us very happy.
This next part is important: your festival registration fee does not include transport to New Orleans, and it does not include accommodation.
You are very welcome to stay at the conference hotel, The Maison St. Charles, and we have a lowered rate ($113 per night plus tax) for participants in “The Burlesque Press Hands On Festival.” Call the Maison St. Charles directly to make your booking, and use the code Hands On Fest. Past attendees have also found some great options on Airbnb, as well as in nearby hotels such as the Pontchartrain.
All events will be held in the uptown area of New Orleans, with most panels and masterclasses being held at the Maison St. Charles itself, and the masquerade ball at a nearby bar.
We are happy to offer suggestions on places to stay. If this will be your first visit to New Orleans, we encourage you to contact us with any questions.
As you’ll see on our ticket page, if you cannot attend the entire festival, we also have a range of other registration options.
If you are bringing friends and / or plus ones to the masquerade ball, you can also purchase individual tickets for the ball (these also include the champagne toast at midnight and the small plate food).
We really hope you can attend this year’s festival. If you would like to present a reading, panel, or event, submit your proposal to our submittable page. It’s going to be a really enjoyable, really productive time. If you have any suggestions, doubts or difficulties, please contact us below with the aid of this intriguing box.
